2 cavities & a Fire

This has been a crazy day. It started out normal. We got up, had breakfast, watched Mickey Mouse and got ready to leave. Jackson had his 6 month cleaning this morning so off we went to the new dentist. Jackson really liked this one. They had a movie playing in the lobby so he immediately was engulfed into the tv. We didn't wait long til they came to get him. I asked if he wanted me to go with him or if he wanted to go by himself. He decided to go alone. He said "I'm a big boy, I can do it by myself". So I waited. I kept hearing him laugh. Very loud laughs. I guess that is better than crying, right? Well the dentist came out & Jackson has 2 small cavities. One on each side on the bottom. He also said that he has an overbite which we will try to fix later.

After the dentist we went to eat & then to the jumpy place, since he was so good at the dentist & he ate all his lunch. I took Nathan down one slide, he smiled but I don't think he really cared about it. He was pretty tired because he was in my lap & was jumping & all of the sudden his head collapsed on my chest. He was out. It was pretty funny. I didn't think he was that tired. Boy was I wrong. Jackson jumped for 2 hours & then it was off to Walmart.

We finally got home & Jackson was relaxing on the couch watching his tv & Nathan & I were playing in the floor when we get a knock on the door. It was a young man who tells me that my back yard is on fire. Yes I said on fire. I headed out the back door, leaving Jackson inside with Nathan, & started to look for neighbor Dave. He burns alot but is always out there. However, not this time. I grabbed the hose & called 911. Then neighbor Dave comes out of his basement. He was inside for a moment & the wind must have got it. Dave starts tackling it & I go back inside to check the kids. By this time it has been about 10 minutes. I come in to find that Jackson had moved Nathan to between his legs & gotten his mirror/piano toy in front of him & is telling Nathan "everything is ok, Mommy will be back". I about cried. He was being such a great big brother. I told him he needed to stay inside until I came to get him. It was still pretty smoky outside. Once the fire was put out, I came in to get the kids. Jackson really wanted to meet the firefighters. He had a nice talk with Firefighter Ronny. They talked about baseball & Daddy. He told him his Daddy's name is Jason & he wears a "boom boom." (a gun) When they were leaving Jason & I took the kids up to show them the truck. Firefighter Ronny asked Jackson if he wanted to sit in the truck & you should have seen his face. He was so excited. Ronny picked him up & put him in the seat & Jackson just laughed & smiled. The best part tho was when the firefighter told him to press a button. It was the horn & Jackson said that was the coolest thing ever. It was amazing! That is his new phrase. Jason got a pic on his phone, it's not great but hey, we got one.

Go Braves!!!

Well we had our 1st baseball practice last night. Jackson probably shouldn't have gone, with his ear infection & cough but Jason & I thought since his past 2 were rained out, we really wanted him to go. And he was so ready to play ball. He wanted to meet all his new "friends". He tells me after practice that his new friends are all his bestfriends. Isn't it crazy how a kid can meet another kid and they are instantly bestfriends? Jackson has a new bestfriend everyday. Back to practice. Jason and several of the other Dad's helped out. We have 15 kids this season. Jackson did good. At his turn to bat he got up there & hit the ball farther than he ever did last seaon. It must have been all the training Uncle Bubbie gave him last week. So, Thanks Uncle Bubbie!! This season we also have a team name. We are the New Georgia Braves. Go Braves!!

Baseball with Bubbie

Look at the expression on his face.

We went to Uncle Bubbie's & Aunt Mara's on Sunday for a cookout. Since Jackson's baseball practice was rained out on Saturday, Uncle Bubbie played ball with him. He helped Jackson hit & then tried to teach him how to catch a fly ball. He tried a few times but then went to ride his bike.

We have a tooth!!!

Well Mr. Nathan has his 1st tooth. Almost. I can see the white starting to poke its way thru. Mommy got very excited but sad at the same time. I just love his toothless smile. I loved Jackson's also. I guess it's just the beginning. It just doesn't seem like he should be getting teeth yet.
This has been a week of firsts for Nathan. He is sitting up by himself now. After about 10 minutes he slumps over but hey, he can do it. If I could only get him to hold his bottle.

Funny Things

Everyday Jackson says something else that makes Jason & I laugh. So I thought I would write them down, so I don't forget them and to share with family.

  • He loves to sing. It amazes me that he can hear the beginning of a song & know what it is. He loves Chicken Fried & Country Boy. Ask him to sing Country Boy, you will laugh.

  • The other day at dinner I asked him if he wanted an apple or banana with his dinner. He proceeded to tell me he wanted a banana because he is a monkey & that is what monkeys eat. His nickname is monkey.

  • At Christmas while we were at Nanny's house he came running downstairs & looked a little upset. I asked him what's the matter & his response was "the matter is, I have to go poop & I can't find my potty seat!" Pop's had cleaned the bathroom, not that it needed it, & moved his potty seat to the closet. We all still laugh at this one.

  • Jackson helps alot with Nathan. At times Nathan just will not calm down & Jackson will ask me "What are we gonna do with him?"

  • He is a very literal boy. He does not understand sarcasm at all. We are gonna have to work on that with him. In this family, sarcasm is a must.

Our New Blog

Ok. So I am trying to simplify our life. So instead of 2 blogs to keep up with I have decided to just keep 1 & put everything on it. It will be easier for everyone.

Jackson started Spring baseball today. We had or were supposed to have practice this morning. We got ready & loaded everyone up but when we got there Coach said it was canceled. Jackson was bummed. So, Jason told Jackson that tomorrow they are gonna go practice. I am so ready for ball.

Nathan is finally starting to sit up on his own. He will only do it for a few minutes & then fall over but he's trying. He loves his brother. Jackson will walk in the room & Nathan grins ear to ear. I have to send Jackson out of the room just to get Nathan to eat or nap. It is very sweet.

For those that don't already know but Jason is now at the courthouse. He is no longer working the jail. Which is good because he has weekends off. Yeah!!! He worked juvenile court for about 3 weeks then they moved him to superior court. I guess he is doing pretty good.
